Rescue 1122 teams safely evacuated 30 staff members, including women, who were stranded inside a call center in PECHS due to Karachi floods.
The workers became stranded as continuous downpours caused severe water accumulation inside the premises, leaving no safe exit. Responding quickly, emergency teams reached the site and shifted all staff to safer locations. Officials confirmed that the flooding had reached dangerous levels, making it impossible for workers to leave on their own.
Karachi has been facing intense urban flooding in recent days, as the city’s poor drainage system failed to handle heavy rainfall. Several low-lying neighborhoods, business centers, and residential areas reported serious waterlogging. Rescue services have been receiving numerous calls for assistance as rains continue to disrupt normal life. Authorities have urged citizens to remain alert, avoid unnecessary movement, and stay clear of flooded areas. The Meteorological Department has also forecast more rainfall in the coming days, raising the risk of further flooding.
Meanwhile, internet services across Pakistan, which were affected during the rain spell, have now been restored. According to Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, connectivity issues were resolved after technical efforts. With more rain expected, rescue teams remain on standby while civic bodies struggle to manage the worsening situation. Officials stressed that cooperation from the public is crucial for ensuring safety and minimizing risks during the ongoing monsoon spell.
