ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has said that Pakistan is playing its part in ensuring the return of its citizens languishing in Sri Lankan jails within seven days.

The minister expressed these views during a meeting with Sri Lankan High Commissioner Admiral (retired) Ravindra Chandra Srivijay Gunaratne on Friday.

“All necessary steps are being finalized to ensure the swift return of Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Sri Lanka,” Mohsin Naqvi told the Sri Lankan diplomat.

According to APP, both sides agreed to expedite the necessary steps for the release of Pakistani nationals imprisoned in Sri Lanka jails within 7 days.

The minister expressed gratitude to the Sri Lankan High Commissioner for his support in facilitating the repatriation process.

Both sides also discussed the prevailing anti-narcotics and border issues. Minister Navi emphasized the need for a proper mechanism to promote cooperation in anti-narcotics and border security measures.
