How to apply for English language teaching jobs in Japan

ISLAMABAD: The Japanese government has announced as many as 30 vacancies for English language teachers from Pakistan.

According to details, Japan urgently requires 30 Assistant English Language Teachers for public schools. This initiative is a collaboration between the Japanese government and the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC).

Japan English language jobs eligibility criteria

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• Both male and female can apply
• At least one year of teaching experience
• 24 to 25 years of age
• Must have no criminal record
• Must provide recent medical certificate
• Demonstrate financial stability
• Candidates must have at least 600,000 yen after covering flight expenses for Private Residence Track
• Candidates must have at least 300,000 yen for Shared Accommodation Track

Additional Instructions

• Send a ‘Self-Introduction Video’ of up to three minutes with CV
• Must be available for training sessions by M/s Borderlink in Pakistan
• Must be able to reach their designated locations in Japan by March 31, 2025

Japan English teaching job details

• Salary of up to 220,000 yen
• Free transportation
• One-year contract from April 7, 2025, to March 24, 2026

Housing and Preference

Applicants for the Private Residence Track will need to cover upfront apartment costs of 250,000 to 350,000 yen. For the Shared Accommodation Track, they must agree to share housing for at least a year from the start date. Preference will be given to those with basic Japanese skills and relevant certifications such as local teaching certificates, TESOL, TOEFL, and/or CELTA.
