PARIS” Arshad Nadeem on Tuesday delivered a 86.59m throw to advance to the Olympic javelin final.
Nadeem, who hit his career best in in Tuesday’s qualifier, kept Pakistan’s hopes alive for an Olympic medal.
The Olympian is currently ranked number four as he heads into Thursday’s final. Reigning Olympic and world champion India’s Neeraj Chopra lead the field with a massive 89.34m throw, also a season best.
Grenada’s Anderson Peters joined his South Asian counterparts in the finals with an 88.63m first attempt, ranking second in the day’s throws.
Brazil’s Luiz Maurício da Silva also made it through to the final with a 85.91m throw on his third attempt.
It bears mentioning that the Olympics runs from July 26 to August 11.
