Islamabad police have made a significant breakthrough, arresting a notorious gang involved in a Rs 30 million robbery. The heist occurred on Tuesday outside an Allied Bank branch in Shehzad Town, Islamabad.
The gang ambushed a cash van outside the bank, firing indiscriminately. The brutal attack left security guard Suleiman dead on the spot, while another guard, Tariq, was critically injured and rushed to the hospital. The robbers then fled the scene with a staggering Rs30 million.
Acting quickly, the Islamabad police launched a manhunt, leading to the arrest of two key suspects. According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Mustafa Tanveer, the police recovered two vehicles, weapons, and Rs19.7 million from the arrested individuals.
Inter-provincial crime ring
The DIG revealed that the arrested suspects are part of an inter-provincial robbery ring, with the main suspect linked to several robberies in Karachi. The police are now working tirelessly to apprehend the remaining two gang members.
The Islamabad police are confident that the remaining members will be caught soon. The arrests are significant in dismantling a dangerous criminal network and restoring safety in the federal capital.
This operation highlights the effectiveness of Islamabad’s police force and their commitment to bringing criminals to justice. As the investigation continues, citizens can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that these dangerous robbers are off the streets.
