Audit reveals illegal appointments at AIOU

An audit report has revealed massive irregularities pertaining to the recruitment drive carried out at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in 2022–2023.

The investigation claims that the authorities concerned disregarded the provincial and regional quotas while recruiting 99 workers. The results indicate that appropriate protocols were not followed during the recruiting process.

The Establishment Division’s regulations stipulate that a public advertisement is necessary, yet this was not done. The exam papers of the candidates were also not displayed for verification, nor were test-based merit lists given to the auditors.

Prior to performing the screening tests, the study also made note of the fact that the fundamental eligibility requirements were disregarded. Moreover, the Selection Board’s recommendations did not form the basis for these selections.

The appointments have been declared unlawful as a consequence, particularly for those ranging from Grade 19 to Grade 9. The university administration has yet to issue an official statement about the auditor’s conclusions.
