Inspector General of Balochistan Police, Moazzam Jah Ansari, has instructed the authorities to expedite the second phase of the Safe City initiative to enhance security and surveillance in Quetta.
The IGP stated that although the main objective of the Safe City initiative was to use contemporary technology to maintain peace and security, there was still opportunity for development to assist strengthen the capacities of law enforcement authorities.
But he assured them that every effort would be made to maintain public safety and combat terrorism and criminality.
At a meeting on Monday that included Tariq Bizenjo, the director of the Safe City project, DIG Aitezaz Ahmad Goraya, Additional IG Mohammad Asim, and SSP Operations Mohammad Baloch, the provincial police head voiced his opinions.
The Safe City project team updated the group on their ongoing efforts to repair cameras following these kinds of outages.
The director of the project gave the head of police in Balochistan a briefing earlier on the project’s numerous facets and the nature of its operation. The director explained that the fiber feeds for the Safe City project were sometimes disrupted because of other construction projects in different parts of Quetta, which occasionally affected monitoring.
The IGP directed that any recently installed cameras whose feeds are interrupted for whatever reason be restored as soon as possible. To meet the project’s remaining goals, coverage has to be increased in blind spots and high-crime regions.
In order to further increase the project’s efficacy, he also gave the order to activate real-time monitoring systems that use artificial intelligence and to link all surveillance feeds and emergency services with the police’s other communication systems as soon as feasible.
