The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has finalized a plan to modernize MM Alam Road, a significant hub in Lahore’s Gulberg neighborhood, at an estimated cost of Rs1.230 billion.
The primary problems with the route, especially the absence of parking and pedestrian facilities, which are inconvenient for customers and tourists, especially during rush hours, are the focus of this project.
MM Alam Road, which is located in the center of Lahore, is well-known for its lively environment, expensive stores, and variety of food options, drawing both residents and visitors.
The LDA also intends to add subterranean electrification and expand pedestrian amenities in order to improve the road’s livability, sustainability, and resilience.
The project’s salient characteristics encompass a unified building line, improved amenities for bicyclists and pedestrians, designated parking, and traffic and pedestrian road safety protocols.
In addition, Hussain Chowk to Mini Market will have a one-way road with the removal of the central median. There will be incentives for property owners to establish a 30-foot setback if they haven’t turned their assets into commercial spaces.
The project will be financed entirely by the LDA, which plans to finish it in six months from the start. The completion of utility companies’ plans to move services underground is a requirement for the project’s start date.
This development will help the general population and assist the LDA by generating income in addition to increasing economic activity.
