The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has closed two Islamabad restaurants for producing fake sales receipts.
The businesses were located using point-of-sale (POS) tracking software, which verified the issuance of fake receipts, according to the Regional Tax Office Islamabad.
Both eateries received a Rs500,000 fine and were closed as a result of their fraudulent acts.
A Point of Sale Reward Scheme was recently introduced by the FBR on October 25. Its first focus was Islamabad’s tier 1 eateries and merchants.
This initiative, which offers incentives for citizens to report fraudulent invoicing, attempts to promote compliance within the tax system.
Customers who use the Tax Asaan app, a clever tool designed to help Pakistani taxpayers, to report false bills will be rewarded as the program rolls out nationally starting next month.
FBR will promptly deposit monetary awards into informants’ bank accounts after verification, and companies discovered to be producing fraudulent sales receipts will be shut down right away.
A new reward scheme encourages citizens to report fake invoices, with plans to expand nationwide next month.
