An official of the Senate and his family were mugged at gunpoint in Islamabad, police said on Saturday.
Muhammad Asadullah Khan, a deputy director with the Senate, and his family were robbed federal capital’s Rawal Town area on Friday.
The robbers snatched mobile phones, cash, and valuables at gunpoint, according to a complaint lodged with Shehzad Town police station.
The dacoits stopped his family, which included Asadullah’s brother and children, and snatched two wallets with Rs600,000 cash, a mobile phone, and a bag carrying important documents before fleeing the crime scene.
The incident comes nearly three months after the Islamabad police arrested a notorious gang involved in a Rs30 million robbery.
The Islamabad police launched a manhunt, leading to the arrest of two key suspects. According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Mustafa Tanveer, the police recovered two vehicles, weapons, and Rs19.7 million from the arrested individuals.
