Iqbal Day: Public Holiday announced by Pakistan govt on November 9

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani government has announced public holiday across the country on November 9 in observance of Allama Iqbal Day. The Cabinet Division issued an official notification confirming the holiday, in line with the public and optional holidays list for 2024.

Iqbal Day, celebrated annually to honor the birth of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the “Poet of the East,” will see the nation pay tribute to the renowned philosopher and poet. On this day, special prayers will be offered in mosques across the country for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.

A key event to mark the occasion will be the Change of Guards ceremony at Dr. Iqbal’s mausoleum in Lahore, a gesture to honor his monumental contributions to Pakistan’s ideological foundation
