A meeting of the apex committee on National Action Plan (NAP) accorded its approval to a full-fledged military operation in Balochistan in a bid to squash terrorism and militancy in the embattled province.
The NAP meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, also announced its intention to revitalise the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (Nacta) under the vision of Azm-i-Istehkam to eradicate resurging terrorism.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said the economic and political stability were interrelated with each other and no society could aspire to progress with these two vital factors. “It is imperative for the economic and political stability that all the leadership should play their due role,” he added.
He also emphasisd the need to broaden the tax net, besides overcoming the issues of leakage and evasion of billion rupees taxes, circular debt, gas and power theft which would supplement the national coffer, thus getting rid of the foreign debts.
Senior military and civilian leadership, provincial chief ministers, and intelligence heads attended Tuesday’s session, which was originally scheduled for Monday but had to be postponed after the premier fell sick.
