Pakistani security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Barho Khel area of Mir Ali tehsil, North Waziristan on Friday, resulting in the deaths of nine terrorists, including commanders Abdul Haq and Moeen.
Additionally, seven militants sustained injuries, and arms and ammunition were seized during the raids. One operation specifically targeted a gathering of 25 militants involved in civilian target killings.
After the encounter, the area was secured, and a search operation commenced. Authorities also engaged with local residents, encouraging them to prevent militants from entering their areas to help maintain peace.
Meanwhile, on December 26, 2024, security forces launched strikes on militant hideouts in Birmal tehsil, South Waziristan. A house in the Manra area, a stronghold of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), was targeted.
While no casualties were reported in this operation, an earlier raid in the same area resulted in the killing of two TTP militants, including their local commander Noor Muhammad. These operations are part of an intensified strategy to combat the resurgence of militancy in Pakistan’s border regions with Afghanistan.
The rise in militant activity in recent months has necessitated a heightened military response to restore stability and safeguard the region. These ongoing measures reflect the determination of Pakistani security forces to counter terrorism and protect civilians from insurgent threats effectively.
