The Punjab police have devised comprehensive traffic management plans to maintain smooth road operations and ensure public safety during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
A large force of traffic wardens and police officers will tackle challenges such as one-wheeling, aerial firing, and reckless driving. In Rawalpindi, over 800 traffic wardens will collaborate with 6600 police officers to manage traffic and enforce road safety.
To prevent illegal activities, 32 special pickets have been set up, with additional checkpoints in strategic areas. Patrolling units, including the Dolphin Force and Mohafiz Squad, will be deployed to monitor roadways, ensuring compliance and taking strict action against violators.
In Lahore and other regions of Punjab, more than 25000 personnel have been assigned to traffic regulation and road safety. In Lahore alone, over 5000 officers will be stationed, supported by specialized units such as the Dolphin Squad and the Punjab Highway Patrol. These teams will conduct enhanced patrolling on highways and major roads to maintain smooth traffic flow.
Authorities have stressed a zero-tolerance policy toward violations, including one-wheeling and illegal road usage, warning that violators will face arrests and FIRs. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious or illegal activities through the police helpline (15) to help maintain peace and order during the celebrations.
