As the world enters 2025 with all its pomp and show people are now guessing how many eclipses would take place in this year.
In 2025, Pakistan will witness only one lunar eclipse. The first total lunar eclipse, also known as a “blood moon,” will occur on March 14, 2025, at 8:57 AM Pakistan time. However, this eclipse will not be visible in Pakistan.
It will be observable across Europe, Australia, Africa, North and South America, the Pacific, Atlantic, Arctic, and Antarctica. This will be the first total lunar eclipse since November 2022.
The first partial solar eclipse of 2025 is scheduled for March 29. It will be visible in Europe, northern Asia, northern and western Africa, most parts of North America, northern South America, the Atlantic, and the Arctic. Unfortunately, this eclipse will also not be visible in Pakistan.
The second total lunar eclipse of the year, which will be visible in Pakistan, will occur on the night of September 7-8, 2025. This eclipse will begin at 08:28 PM on September 7 and end at 01:55 AM on September 8. It will be the only lunar eclipse visible in Pakistan in 2025.
The last solar eclipse of the year will be a partial solar eclipse on September 21, 2025. This will be visible in the southern regions of Australia, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, and Antarctica.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is positioned between the Sun and the Moon, casting a shadow on the Moon’s surface. Such events can only take place during a full moon. A partial eclipse ends when the Moon moves out of the Earth’s full shadow, or umbra, into the penumbra.
