Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved Rs62 billion for Apni Chhat Apna Ghar program, and directed the authorities concerned to complete the process of providing loans under the program as soon as possible.
The Chief Minister of Punjab has approved a plan to increase the loan amount for the affordable housing project to provide better financial support to citizens. In a special meeting, she directed the authorities to review a proposal to raise the loan limit from Rs1.5 million to Rs 2 million. This move is part of the government’s efforts to make homeownership more accessible.
The Chief Minister has also set a goal to provide 40000 loans under the housing scheme by May. She was informed that around 5000 people in Punjab have already received loans under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” program, and over 4200 houses are expected to be completed soon.
The government is collaborating with the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and the Housing and Urban Development Department to provide ready-made houses to low-income families. The Chief Minister stressed that every homeless person in the province should have access to their own home, as owning a house is a fundamental right for all citizens.
This initiative is a significant step in addressing housing issues in Punjab, ensuring that more families can fulfill their dream of owning a home. The scheme reflects the government’s commitment to improving the living standards of its people, especially the underprivileged, by offering them affordable housing options.
