Pakistan Railways has rolled out a revised ticket refund policy, which will also be applicable to tickets purchased via the Raabta app.
The policy, outlined in a railway notification, offers refunds depending on the timing of the cancellation. Passengers who cancel their tickets at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure can receive up to 90% of the ticket price.
For cancellations between 24 and 48 hours before departure, passengers will get 80% of the fare. Those who cancel within 24 hours will be eligible for a 70% refund. If the cancellation is made within 2 hours of departure, passengers will receive 50% of the ticket price.
In the case of train delays of 6 hours or more, passengers are entitled to a full refund. For tickets purchased at railway counters, refunds can only be processed at the original point of sale. Passengers must present their original ticket and a copy of their national identity card to receive the refund, along with a cancellation slip.
For online ticket cancellations, the same refund policy applies, but refunds must be processed through the same online platform used for the purchase. No refunds will be granted for online tickets after the scheduled departure.
If there is less than 1.5 hours remaining before the train departs, passengers opting for a refund will only receive 50% of the ticket price. This new policy aims to enhance customer service while maintaining operational efficiency for Pakistan Railways.
Passengers are encouraged to visit the official website or use the Rabta app for further details.
