The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Sunday claimed to have foiled a human trafficking attempt at Karachi airport by offloading four women who were ready to board a Saudi Arabia-bound flight under the pretext of performing Umrah.
The women, identified as Shazia Bano, Zameera Azeem, Lubna, and Sana Shahzadi, were allegedly being sent for forced labor. According to the FIA, a former policewoman from Punjab, identified as Asia, had covered their travel expenses. Another suspect, Waseem Gujjar, was set to receive them in Saudi Arabia. Investigations revealed that the women had previously traveled abroad.
In a separate action, FIA detained two passengers, Ilyas and Rayan, at Jinnah International Airport. Both were traveling on emergency passports, and authorities found their citizenship status suspicious. They were handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle for further investigation.
The FIA continues to take strict measures against human trafficking networks, ensuring that victims are not exploited under the guise of overseas employment.
