The Punjab government has introduced a dedicated Green Bike Lane in Rawalpindi for motorcycle riders after Lahore to address traffic concerns.
Rawalpindi has already introduced a dedicated Green Biker Lane on Old Airport Road to improve traffic flow and motorcycle safety. The five-kilometre track runs from Gulzar-e-Quaid to the Flying Club and from the Flying Club to Korral Turn.
The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has partially completed the lane, which is now operational on a trial basis. The project, costing Rs. 45 million, features a 12-foot-wide track designed with anti-slip paint to ensure safety, even in rainy conditions.
Traffic wardens have been deployed to enforce rules and educate motorcyclists. The City Traffic Police (CTP) plans to install reflectors, signals, and speed cameras for further regulation.
Motorcyclists have welcomed the initiative, but some citizens worry that vehicles using the adjacent service road may disrupt traffic. Authorities are being urged to address this issue.
