The incident occurred in the Kalmat area, where armed attackers stopped the vehicle, removed some people and fired indiscriminately, killing five people on the spot and leaving others injured.
Gunmen stopped a bus traveling from Pasni to Karachi, forced passengers to disembark after checking their ID cards, and shot them. Five people died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The attackers also took three passengers hostage. One of the victims was reportedly from Multan.
In a separate incident, three trailers carrying urea from Gwadar port to Afghanistan were torched in the Tejaban area. Roads were blocked in Turbat, Panjgur, and Pasni, while Levies officials reported road closures in Bolan, Kolhapur, and Mastung. Attackers also set a Levies vehicle on fire in Mastung. Security forces have been deployed to clear roads and restore order.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the attack, offered condolences to the victims’ families, and directed authorities to provide medical care to the injured. He also ordered a thorough investigation to bring the attackers to justice. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the violence, calling it a cowardly and barbaric act.
This attack follows the recent killing of four laborers from Punjab in Manguchar, Balochistan. Meanwhile, the Jaffar Express is set to resume its Peshawar-Quetta service tomorrow.
