Electricity Tariff Reduction for April

In a major development, the government has officially announced an electricity tariff reduction in Pakistan, bringing much-needed relief to domestic and industrial users. As per official documents, the average electricity rate for domestic consumers has been slashed by Rs7.41 per unit, dropping from Rs45.05 to Rs37.64 per unit.

This significant rate cut comes after successful negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and is part of the government’s broader economic relief efforts, especially with summer demand on the rise. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the reduction aims to ease household financial pressure while also supporting industrial and agricultural sectors.

He also reiterated the importance of structural reforms to tackle electricity theft, which remains a major cause of revenue loss for the country.
