Mercury hits 40°C in Lahore

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast dry weather across most districts of Sindh over the next 24 hours, with residents expected to face warmer days ahead compared to the previous week.

Karachi experienced partly cloudy but dry weather today, with temperatures ranging between 33°C and 26°C. The city’s humidity remained between 60 to 75 percent, and winds blew from the northwest at a speed of 13 km/h.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a noticeable rise in temperature is expected starting from April 13 due to increased atmospheric pressure. The weather will remain dry, but conditions will turn hotter in the coming days.

The Met Office has forecasted that from Monday, intense heat will grip the southern parts of the country. Temperatures in Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan are likely to rise by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius above the normal average. In northern areas, temperatures may increase by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius.

This heatwave is expected to last from April 13 to April 18. Meteorologists also warned that strong winds and dust storms could occur during this period, especially in southern regions.

Residents are advised to take precautions, stay hydrated, and avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure during peak daytime hours. Special care is recommended for children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.

As of today, Karachi’s temperature stands at 28°C with no signs of rainfall. Humidity is around 66 percent, and wind continues to blow at 13 km/h. The weather may remain dry for the next few days, but heat is expected to intensify.

Authorities have been urged to prepare for the upcoming heatwave by ensuring the availability of water and medical aid in case of heat-related emergencies.
