Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the Online Women Police Station and the 1Info mobile app during his visit to the Islamabad Safe City Headquarters.
He observed the surveillance process on the digital wall and appreciated the efforts of the staff. A new mobile app has been launched, allowing citizens to file emergency complaints easily. The minister said the app and the online women police station show the government’s commitment to using modern technology for public safety. He also stressed the need to improve online platforms to give quick help to women and vulnerable groups.
During a high-level meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said the Safe City project has played a major role in preventing crime and ensuring a fast response to emergencies. He directed that the system should be upgraded using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and connected with safe city projects in other provinces to improve data sharing and coordination. The interior minister urged the Safe City staff to continue their hard work and make public service their top priority. He appreciated their dedication and said the aim is to make Islamabad the safest city in the country.
IG Islamabad gave a briefing and shared that 3,100 cameras are currently active in the capital, with plans to install another 3100 to expand the system. The Safe City cameras have helped solve many high-profile cases, including the Sardar Fahim murder case, and have contributed to reducing the crime rate in the city. The 1815 helpline, run fully by women staff, has also been launched to help women. It includes female call attendants, responders, and investigation officers, offering a safe and supportive system for women needing assistance.
