Three-day curfew enforced in Bajaur

The district administration of Bajaur on Monday announced a 12-hour curfew across all main highways of the district from 11am to 11pm as security forces launched a targeted operation in parts of Mamund Tehsil.

Residents have been told to finish their activities by 10:30 am and remain inside their homes during this period. Officials said many people have already left the affected areas in recent days. To support displaced families, the district administration has vacated 107 government schools and colleges. A relief camp with 450 tents has been set up at the Bajaur Sports Complex to provide temporary shelter. Security forces are continuing their targeted operation in the region to maintain order.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has placed Section 144 in 13 districts for seven days as part of security plans for the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (A.S). These districts include Peshawar, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Nowshera, Kurram, Mardan, and Lakki Marwat. Under these restrictions, motorcycle pillion riding is banned, along with wall chalking, provocative speeches, display of weapons, aerial firing, use of loudspeakers, and fireworks. People are also not allowed to stand on rooftops along Chehlum procession routes. Afghan nationals are barred from gathering in public places during this period.

Authorities have deployed police and other law enforcement agencies across the province to ensure peace and security. Monitoring teams are active in all affected districts to check any violations and take immediate action when needed. These measures aim to protect the public and ensure smooth observance of the upcoming religious events.
