Various underpasses and major roads in the city have been dewatered and reopened to traffic.
According to the statement, Clifton and Submarine Underpasses have been reopened following dewatering. Roads including Shaheen Complex, II Chundrigarh Road, Shahrah-e-Faisal, MA Jinnah Road, Shahrah-e-Soori Road, and Jam Sadiq Bridge towards Korangi are now open for traffic. However, some routes remain closed due to waterlogging. Korangi Causeway, EBM Causeway, Drug Road Underpass, and Nazimabad Underpass are still shut. Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has urged citizens to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. He also informed that the Sindh government has provided 250 dewatering pumps to clear flooded areas.
The recent spell of heavy rainfall left several parts of Karachi submerged, halting routine life and creating difficulties for commuters. Authorities are working round the clock to restore normal traffic flow and clear water from main arteries. The chief minister also chaired an emergency meeting where he directed officials to continue dewatering operations and stay alert as more rainfall is expected. He stressed that a modern drainage network is essential to strengthen Karachi’s resilience against urban flooding.
Efforts are ongoing to bring life back to normal in the city as authorities continue to remove rainwater from low-lying areas and monitor weather developments closely.
