Abu Dhabi’s commercial court has dismissed a case filed by a bride who demanded back Dh11,800 from a wedding planner after she canceled her ceremony for personal reasons.
A Dubai court has dismissed a bride’s lawsuit in which she demanded a refund and Dh20000 in compensation from a company over a wedding services dispute. According to case details, the woman claimed that she had made payments but did not receive the promised services. She also sought additional compensation for the inconvenience caused.
However, during the hearings, the judges found that there was no binding contract between the woman and the company she accused. The court observed that the agreement shown by the bride was signed with someone not involved in the case. Judges further noted that the payment slips she submitted only confirmed money transfers and could not be treated as proof of debt or legal liability without a valid contract or binding agreement.
Furthermore, the woman failed to present documents that demonstrated any contractual or legal responsibility of the defendants. Without concrete evidence, the court ruled that her claims were unsubstantiated. As a result, the court rejected the lawsuit in full and ordered the bride to pay court fees and associated legal costs.
Legal experts highlight that the ruling serves as a reminder for individuals to carefully review and document agreements, especially when payments are involved. In the absence of clear contracts, claims for refunds or damages may not stand in court. The case reflects the strict standards followed by UAE courts in verifying evidence and ensuring that only properly documented agreements are enforceable.
