Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan does not represent Pakistan’s stance.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, while speaking in the National Assembly, said that people in Gaza are dying of hunger and international organizations like the United Nations and European Union have failed to restore peace. He stressed that an immediate ceasefire is the only solution to end the suffering of Palestinians and rebuild Gaza.
Dar said that Pakistan, along with eight Muslim countries, had earlier given 20 points on a Gaza ceasefire during a discussion with former US President Donald Trump. However, he noted that the version later released by Trump was different from the original draft prepared by the Muslim states. He added that Pakistan has already clarified its stance at the Foreign Office briefing and will continue to support the draft agreed upon by Muslim countries.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that this is not a political issue but a joint responsibility of Islamic countries, reaffirming that Pakistan’s policy on Palestine is consistent with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam. He also revealed that Pakistan had representation in the Global Sumud flotilla, which was recently intercepted by Israeli forces. He confirmed that 22 boats were seized and passengers were taken into custody, including Senator Mushtaq Ahmed.
On the Shama Junejo controversy, Ishaq Dar clarified that her name was not included in the UN delegation approved by the Foreign Ministry. He explained that she was part of another delegation linked to the Prime Minister, not the official foreign office mission. Dar reiterated that Pakistan will continue to raise its voice for Palestine on all international forums and stand with the oppressed people of Gaza until peace is achieved.
