Turkiye to build military drone factory in Pakistan

Turkiye has completed preparations to set up a military drone production factory in Pakistan, according to Bloomberg.

These include stealth-capable and long-range models, marking a significant boost in Pakistan’s drone production capabilities. The project is part of Turkiye’s wider plan to involve Pakistan in its fifth-generation fighter aircraft programme, reflecting growing cooperation between the two countries in the defence sector.

The report also highlighted that Turkiye and Pakistan are working together under a joint production agreement to manufacture naval combat vessels for the Pakistani Navy. Along with this, Turkiye has already upgraded dozens of Pakistan’s F-16 aircraft, further strengthening Pakistan’s air defence systems.

Turkiye’s defence exports have grown sharply, rising by 30 percent in the last 11 months and reaching $7.5 billion in 2025. Turkish Aerospace Industries, which opened its first office in Pakistan in 2019, continues to play a major role in these collaborations. It is also supplying Pakistan with 30 ATA helicopters and over 1,200 additional helicopters under a contract worth $1.5 billion. Officials said these joint projects clearly show Pakistan’s growing military capability and the strong trust between the two countries.

In another development, Turkiye’s Minister of Energy, Alparslan Bayraktar, visited Pakistan earlier this month and held a meeting at the General Headquarters with Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to ISPR. Both sides discussed matters of mutual interest and agreed to expand cooperation in the energy sector, deepen bilateral ties, and identify new areas for strategic partnership. These ongoing defence and energy engagements show that Pakistan and Turkiye are moving toward a stronger, long-term partnership aimed at boosting capability, economic cooperation, and regional stability.
