More learner and regular licenses issued than ever before

Following orders from DIG Traffic Punjab Waqas Nazir, driving licenses are being issued immediately, and traffic laws are being strictly enforced across the province.

The traffic authorities in Punjab have recorded a substantial number of activities in licensing as well as enforcing the law in the last 24 hours. More than 46,000 citizens were able to obtain driving licenses, with 16000 being learner licenses, 15000 being normal licenses, and 15000 being renewal licenses.

Along with the process of issuing licenses, the traffic police have launched a tough crackdown on the violators of the rules of road safety. Authorities registered cases against over 35,000 lawbreakers, and more than 6,000 drivers were fined for operating vehicles without a valid license.

Motorcyclists were equally given tough homework, with over 13,000 fined for riding motorcycles without helmets. In the same category, more than 500 challans were given to vehicles producing excess smoke to decrease air pollutants and ensure environmental compliance. For minors driving cars, affidavits were required from a total of 450 parents to ensure guardians are responsible for the actions of their children.

The DIG Traffic, Waqas Nazir, said that the authority is making sure there is 100 percent compliance with the traffic laws in the Punjab province,” a local publication reported. “The zero tolerance policy has been adopted with the aim of ensuring the promotion of public safety,” he underlined, adding that the authority has called on the public to make sure there is a marked compliance with the traffic laws with the aim of avoiding hefty fines,” the report outlined. The recent surge in licensing and enforcement highlights the traffic department’s dual focus on facilitating lawful drivers while cracking down on violations.
