KP rolls out free solar systems in merged areas

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Tuesday withdrew ab initio the requirement of a licence along with Rs1000 per kW licencing fee for solar net-metering consumers with systems below 25 kilowatts.

Energy Minister Awais Leghari takes bold action to boost solar power. The Power Division follows his orders and writes to NEPRA. They request removal of licenses for small solar consumers right away. NEPRA responds to the letter quickly. It sends out a notification that removes the need for licenses.

They also cancel the per kilowatt charge for these consumers as well. The big move helps families and small businesses. More households can now install rooftop panels without hassle and additional fees. Now, more households go for green energy. The change reduces costs for consumers. In the past, fees and licensing delayed uptake and increased costs. As a result, users gain independence and lower electricity costs.

Moreover, this move boosts Pakistan’s renewable energy effort. It reduces dependence on expensive grid electricity during peak times. The government champions the victory for green growth. Numerous small-scale solar systems emerge across the country, supplying electricity to homes and businesses. Also, this is good for renewables investment.

Pakistanis welcome the relief from high energy prices. Households go solar faster, cutting costs. And the electricity grid is relieved during peak demand. This is a game-changer policy. It makes installing solar easy for citizens. Energy Minister Leghari’s ambition brings change for millions.

Ultimately, solar use helps tackle climate change. It ensures a sustainable future. Consumers save and help the environment. The announcement creates a buzz across the country. Users rush to explore options. Everyone can access clean energy, driving innovation and cost savings.
