The Punjab Traffic Police started a strict campaign against lane violations.

This campaign seeks to boost road traffic flow and improve safety. It will focus on drivers who break road rules on major roads and highways. DIG Traffic, Punjab, told all field officers to use the lane line system. So, motorcycles, rickshaws, public transport, and cars must stay in their lanes. Authorities will impose fines and take action against repeat offenders. Authorities will patrol more roads and set up checkpoints on key routes.

Improved lane discipline will help decrease accidents, police say. It will also reduce congestion and commuter travel times. So, the police called on the public to obey traffic regulations and cooperate with the police. Road users should watch for road signs and lane markings.

Furthermore, there are awareness campaigns as part of the campaign. Social media, billboards, and radio will remind drivers of the lane rules. More training for traffic wardens will also enhance their management on the ground. Officials emphasized the importance of fair and uniform enforcement.

Drivers had mixed responses. Others hailed it as a welcome change, with disciplined lanes to save time. Others expressed concern about unexpected fines and requested explicit instructions ahead of time. Police said they would enforce warnings with serious penalties at first.
