KARACHI – A new virus termed as ‘Adenovirus’ has erupted in Karachi with patient count increasing per day in the metropolis.
Dr Halar Shaikh is the registrar at Jinnah Hospital and he states that the virus has been increasing in the outskirts of Karachi.
The symptoms of the virus include a cough, cold, flu, and mild fever alongside body aches. As of yet no blood pressure abnormalities have been reported.
Even though the virus does not appear to be deadly in nature, patients do recover between 2 to 3 days if they take the proper medication and rest.
Dr. Halar Sheikh states that asthmatic and diabetes patients are more at risk as the virus can turn into pneumonia if not properly treated.
Furthermore, several autoimmune conditions can also negatively impact the spread of the virus as well.
Precautionary measures include the stopping of handshakes and wearing a safety mask at all times to stop its spread.
It affects people of all ages from children, toddlers, teenagers to adults and even senior citizens.
