BASANT – Local authorities have arrested some 187 individuals for the celebration of the Kite flying festival (Basant) despite a ban on it by the local authorities.
The Basant festivities took place in Rawalpindi on Thursday and Friday where police arrested 187 individuals for buying and selling of kites.
According to reports, more than 7,400 Kites were confiscated in the Rawalpindi and Islamabad region on Friday.
Reports from the local authorities suggest that 4,400 kites were recovered with more than a 100 kite flying rolls in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
After successful raids across the places, the police arrested 106 people with kites, flying rolls and even weapons and put them behind bars.

Comprehensive reports suggest that more than 600 accused were arrested and 61,000 kites were recovered alongside 1,200 kite flying chemical rolls.
Successful raids were conducted by the local authorities in Rawalpindi including Westridge, Nasirabad, Civil Lines, Kacheri, P.A Bazar, Airport, and Pirwadhai.
The locations of the raids included Arya Mohallah, Chah Sultan, Committee Chowk, Dhoke Chiraghdin, Dhoke Khabba, Dhamial, Jhanda Chichi, Misrial Road, Naseerabad, Naya Mohalla, New Town, People’s Colony, Pirwadhai, Pirwadhai, Pindora, R.A.Bazar, Railway colony, Ratta Amral, Ratta Amral, Sadiqabad, Satellite Town, Tench Bhatta, Waris Khan, Westridge.
Sources suggest that all necessary resources are being utilised to conduct raid against kite flyers and suppliers in Rawalpindi.
