Police refusing to register FIR for abducted Cola Next CEO, says family

KARACHI: Family of a top businessmen say police are refusing to register FIR over his alleged abduction.

Zulfiqar Ahmed, who oversees several prominent business including Paracha Textiles, Mezan Oil and Cola Next, hasn’t returned home after he was abducted by eight masked men in a double-cabin vehicle, his family said on Thursday.

Ahmed and his partner Qaiser were both abducted at gunpoint on Mauripur Road in Keamar, family sources said, adding that Qaiser was released shortly after but Ahmed remains missing.

The family says police are not cooperating with them when it comes to the First Information Report at the local Kalri Police Station, noting they have tried to file FIR several times but to no avail.

According to a social media post, Zulfiqar Ahmad was born into an Industrial family. He studied at DHA College Karachi and IQRA University. After his education, he joined family business in 2001 and oversaw the growth of Mezan Oil as a brand.
