Kuwait City: Kuwait has announced a major change in its Family Visa requirement.
According to details, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has eliminated the university degree requirement for applicants. That means applicants who do not have a university certification can now apply for the gulf country’s family visa program.
What is a Family Visa?
Kuwait’s family visa program enables expatriates with a valid work permit to sponsor their dependents for residency. This typically includes spouses and children under the age of 18, allowing them to live in Kuwait, enjoy certain social benefits, and potentially pursue educational opportunities.
Previous criteria for Kuwait Family Visa
The previous requirements were stricter. Not only did applicants need to have a minimum income threshold, they needed a university degree making it extremely challenging for many skilled people to bring their families to Kuwait.
What are the new requirements for Kuwait Family Visa?
The latest relaxation is part of Kuwait’s effort to facilitate expatriates. Being away from loved ones is never easy and the gulf country is making it possible for expatriates to get their families to join them.
As per Ministerial Resolution No. 56/2024:
- The minimum salary requirement has been raised to KD800 (approximately Dh9,600).
- The previous requirement for applicants to hold university degrees has been abolished.
- Applicants’ professions within Kuwait must align with their academic credentials.
