The Federal Cabinet on Thursday accepted the Ministry of Maritime Affairs’ proposal that requires all government agencies to use Gwadar Port for 50% of their imports, including wheat, sugar, and fertilizer.
In order to guarantee the growth and prosperity of the province of Balochistan, the prime minister had already issued orders to expand Gwadar Port operations. Additionally, he issued an order requiring the Port to handle 50% of all imports for the public sector.
The cabinet was directed to enhance the amount of exports from the Gwadar Port going forward, as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over the meeting. To provide the cabine with a quarterly report on imports and supplies through the port, a subcommittee of the cabinet would be laid out.
On the Service of Correspondences’ idea, the cabinet approved the marking of a Reminder of Understanding between Sri Lanka and Pakistan for the arrival of a dedicatory postal stamp to honor the 75th commemoration of the two countries’ political ties.
A report on sugar sent out from the Bureau Council was given by the Service of Businesses and Creation.
The government expressed pleasure that sugarcane farmers were fairly compensated for their labors and that the country earned substantial foreign cash as a result of a well-timed decision to export sugar. Sugar prices also stayed consistent.
Muhammad Yaqoob, Assistant Director of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan, was appointed Federal Inspector Drug Balochistan by the cabinet on the advice of the Ministry of National Health Services.
Additionally, the cabinet authorized paying the Chief Economist of the Planning Commission on the Special Professional Pay Scale-I (SPPS-I) after the position was filled through open competition.
Based on recommendations from the Revenue Division and orders from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the cabinet has approved the departmental promotion examinations for Inspector Inland Revenue (BPS-16) positions developed by the Federal Public Service Commission.
Decisions made during the August 29, 2024, meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) were accepted by the government.
Furthermore, the cabinet confirmed the decisions reached at the Cabinet Committee on State-Owned Enterprises meeting on September 2, 2024.
