Following directives from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Passport and Immigration Directorate confirmed that it has eliminated the backlog of passport issuance across Pakistan.
Major cities have reportedly caught up with the applications that were delayed, according to officials. In Islamabad, more than 14,600 outstanding cases were resolved, while 83,000 applications were completed in Karachi.
The Garden Town office in Lahore processed 30,800 passport applications; 4,800 of those cases were cleared in Raiwind, and another 11,400 in Shadman. There was also notable improvement in other cities such as Quetta, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar, with case counts of 7,200, 18,400, and 23,100 cleared, respectively.
The Directorate also disclosed that 15,800 passport receivers received their orders for expedited passport delivery, while 5,650 applicants received their orders in person.
Relief was provided to Pakistanis living abroad when an additional 17,900 regular and 41,700 urgent passport applications were processed through embassies.
The backlog has been completely cleared in important cities, according to Director General of Passports Mustafa Jamal Qazi, and staff are working nonstop to guarantee efficient processing.
In order to preserve passport issuing efficiency, the next step is to expand the endeavour to the other regions of the nation. This comes after widespread concerns about passport processing delays that have seriously hampered residents’ lives.
