KARACHI: Natasha Danish, the prime suspect in Karsaz road accident, was granted bail by the Sindh High Court (SHC) in a drug case on Monday.
Natasha Danish was said to be driving under influence when she lost control of her SUV speed causing it to ram into a motorcycle before plunging onto the service road.
The accident, which took place on August 19, resulted in the deaths of Arif, 60, and his daughter Amna, 22, while injuring three others.
A court had previously granted her bail from manslaughter charges after the victims family pardoned her “in the name of Allah.”
The aggrieved party’s lawyer, Barrister Aziz Ghouri, denied that diyat (blood money) was paid to the family, saying that the suspect was pardoned “in the name of Allah.”
After the dismissal of her bail twice from the lower judiciary in the drug case, the suspect through her lawyer had approached the SHC.
While hearing the bail plea today, Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha, after hearing arguments from both sides, approved Natasha Danish’s post-arrest bail against surety bonds worth Rs1m.
“A settlement has been reached between the parties in the main FIR of this case,” lead counsel for the suspect, Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Farooq H. Naek, informed the court.
