Natasha Danish ‘pardoned’ by family of Karsaz accident victims

KARACHI: Natasha Danish, who was arrested on manslaughter charges for killing a father and his daughter on Karsaz Road, has been pardoned by the victims’ family, according to an affidavit submitted in a sessions court.

Natasha’s arrest followed a deadly accident where her reckless driving allegedly killed Imran Arif, 60, and his daughter Amna, 22, while injuring three others. Initial reports suggested she had mental health issues, but recent assessments found no psychiatric conditions, adding to public dissatisfaction with the case’s handling.

The aggrieved party’s lawyer, Barrister Aziz Ghouri, denied that diyat (blood money) was paid to the family, saying that the suspect was pardoned “in the name of Allah.”

“[They have forgiven the suspect] out of court in the name of Allah”, according to the affidavit that has come forward,” he said.

“They (the family) are saying that they have forgiven because those who forgive have the highest stature,” he added as he denied reports of any monetary settlement between the two parties.

The sessions court on Friday granted bail to the accused in the hit-and-run case, but she would remain under custody until the conclusion of the narcotics case.

According to defence counsel, Advocate Amir Mansoob Qureshi, Natasha and her husband’s bails were set for Rs100,000 and Rs50,000 respectively.

Natasha Danish’s prison photos spark debate

Natasha Danish, the main accused, became the focus of public outrage after her jail photos were leaked online.

These images, circulating widely on social media, showed Natasha enjoying amenities that most prisoners don’t have access to, sparking accusations of preferential treatment.

One image shows her sitting on a comfortable bed with a fan nearby, while another captures her posing and smiling with another inmate. The photos have raised eyebrows, as such luxuries are typically unavailable to regular inmates.
