LAHORE: PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday attended a check distribution ceremony for the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” (ACAG) program at the Expo Centre.
They gave checks to recipients who were eligible for loans under the program while they were there. The event featured the presentation of a documentary about the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” project.
During her speech, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz thanked Nawaz Sharif, saying that the celebration would not have been the same without his participation. The program’s goal was spearheaded by PML-N President Nawaz Sharif, she stressed.
The chief minister declared that this program is progressing significantly, with the goal of providing 700 billion rupees over five years. She conveyed her happiness at having given the public access to the first round of loans in just 1.5 months.
Maryam Nawaz stated that they got 500,000 applications, which is why the same amount of people were chosen to receive assistance. In order to help landowners in rural and urban regions (between one and ten marlas) fulfill their ambition of owning a property, the program will offer financing.
She reaffirmed that the administration has won the public’s trust in the initiative and stressed the need of working hard to realize this objective. Within the next year, she intended to offer 100,000 loans via an open lottery system, she declared.
Maryam Nawaz gave strict instructions that the loan installments should not be more than 14,000 rupees per month. The government’s sincere desire to help its people is demonstrated by the fact that the loans would have no interest, meaning that a borrower taking out a 1.5 million rupee loan would only have to pay back the principal over a period of nine years.
Additionally, she provided information regarding the Children’s Heart Surgery Program, highlighting the solidarity and togetherness of Punjab while commemorating the completion of 200 procedures, some of which involved children from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Nawaz Sharif highlighted the importance of the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” initiative, which provides interest-free loans to individuals who want to construct homes. Declaring, “This program is the best example of spending public money on the people,” he complimented Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on the initiative’s splendid debut.
Nawaz Sharif also commended the government for its efforts to lower Punjab’s electricity rates, criticizing opponents who accuse the IMF of causing economic problems and raising the question of whether they had ever supported comparable housing projects in KP.
Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, provincial ministers, advisors, and Senator Pervaiz Rashid were present at the function.
