Driver gets Rs50,000 in e-challan

The Lahore Traffic Police have registered 108 breaches in the e-challan system and fined one car for persistent violations. The driver faces penalties in excess of Rs50,000 for multiple infractions.

For violating numerous traffic laws, the driver was fined more than Rs50,000.

Drivers must be aware of traffic laws, especially in light of increased monitoring, according to Chief Traffic Officer Amara Athar.

This particular car was pulled over on Mall Road after breaking traffic signals 80 times, lane regulations 19 times, and nine times without a seatbelt.

Those who have unpaid e-challan would not be allowed to use any police services, CTO Amara continued.

These consist of getting driver’s licenses, character references, and verifications.

There is also a drive to stop people from changing their car’s license plate in order to avoid paying fines.

According to Punjab Safe City’s Operation Commander Muhammad Shafique Ahmad, the implementation of AI-based e-challan, a technological advancement intended to automate traffic infraction identification and enforcement, earlier this week marked a significant advancement in the province’s road safety measures.

He emphasized that Punjab made tremendous progress in improving road safety under Chief Minister Maryum Nawaz’s direction with these AI-driven e-challan meant to reduce traffic infractions, while speaking to the state-run PTV news station.

This cutting-edge technology used artificial intelligence to automatically identify 19 different traffic infractions, such as speeding, driving on the wrong side of the road, and triple riding.

Ahmad clarified that the second phase covered 24 traffic law infractions, whereas the first phase concentrated on enforcing e-challan for failing to wear seat belts in cars and helmets on motorbikes.
