The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) has signed agreements with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, National Disaster Management Authority, National Commission for Human Development, and Kashmir Earthquake Reconstruction Authority to support housing and education initiatives in Pakistan.
With a total projected value of $14,223,762, these projects seek to serve communities impacted by natural disasters in Pakistan. They will directly benefit about 360,000 people and indirectly assist an additional 690,000 people.
The agreements provide for the construction of 1,000 permanent dwelling units for flood-affected families in 2022, which will provide a safe haven for almost 7,000 individuals in the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
To ensure a comfortable living environment, every house will have a kitchen, a bathroom and two bedrooms.
Furthermore, 300 solar-powered community schools with access to potable water will be constructed throughout Pakistan, directly benefiting 15,000 students and indirectly helping over 100,000 more.
In Kashmir, four more secondary schools are planned to provide 3,400 students with a secure learning environment while simultaneously advancing the long-term development of the area.
In addition, 22 service facilities including schools, health centers, and water projects that Saudi Arabia has previously built in Pakistani disaster-affected areas will be renovated to improve the availability of clean water, healthcare, and education.
The Saudi government’s dedication to enhancing communities, funding healthcare and educational initiatives, and restoring essential services in Pakistan is seen in these initiatives.
