The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) is actively addressing improper parking and sidewalk obstruction through a new campaign aimed at improving traffic flow.
Islamabad Police have issued more than 93,459 fines this year for improper parking, with several vehicles impounded for blocking footpaths, as reported by a public relations officer on Friday.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Sarfraz Virk emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic laws and directed all Zonal DSPs to take action against violators who disrupt traffic discipline in the city.
CTO Virk stated that pedestrians have the right to use footpaths, and no parking will be tolerated in these areas.
He urged drivers to utilize designated parking lots at shopping centers and highlighted the need for awareness campaigns to educate citizens on proper parking practices.
To maintain traffic flow and ensure the convenience of road users, the CTO confirmed that special squads have been formed to remove illegal parking and clear footpaths.
He assured that strict action would be taken against those violating parking regulations. The operation aims to extend to other areas of Islamabad, reinforcing the commitment to a disciplined and efficient traffic system for the benefit of all residents.
