Students have expressed concerns following Canada‘s recent decision to end its fast-track Student Direct Stream (SDS) visa program.
The Student Direct Stream (SDS), which offers quicker processing timeframes, was introduced in 2018 to help eligible post-secondary students apply quickly.
Along with countries like Nigeria, China, and India, Pakistan was one of the countries that were part of the SDS program.
In order to facilitate students from these areas’ access to higher education in Canada, the initiative sought to expedite the approval of their visas.
However, Canada has declared that the SDS and Nigeria Student Express (NSE) programs will be discontinued with immediate effect as part of continuous efforts to improve program integrity and guarantee equitable treatment for all students.
All participating nations, including Pakistan, are affected by this development. The normal study permit stream is now open to prospective students from Pakistan and other countries.
In order to ensure that students fulfill the financial requirements for studying in Canada, this stream still accepts Guaranteed Investment Certificates (GICs) as evidence of financial assistance.
Canada is committed to welcoming international students from all around the world and providing them with the chance to have a positive academic experience in a diverse and inclusive environment, even in light of the termination of the SDS and NSE projects.
