Huge update on FBR tax return deadline

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has released the Active Women Taxpayers data for the 2024 tax period, highlighting the increasing participation of women in business and entrepreneurship in Pakistan.

According to the FBR report, a total of 1,064,639 women entrepreneurs and businesswomen are income tax return filers, with their names listed on the Active Taxpayers List (ATL). Among them, 138841 women who have declared income from business activities are classified as Individual Active Women Taxpayers making this group the largest among women return filers.

Additionally, 22088 Active Taxpayers in the form of Associations of Persons (AOPs) with at least 50% women members were also recorded. The number of companies with 50% or more women directors has also significantly increased, rising from 20,671 in 2022 to 41,629 in 2024.

In line with the government’s efforts to promote women entrepreneurship, the FBR is publishing data on women-owned businesses and women entrepreneurs who are active income taxpayers. This data will be updated every six months and divided into three categories:

  1. Individual Active Taxpayers with business income, including those under the presumptive tax regime.
  2. Active Associations of Persons (AOPs) with 50% or more women members.
  3. Companies with 50% or more women directors.

This initiative reflects the FBR’s commitment to recognizing and supporting the growing role of women in Pakistan’s business sector.
