Punjab govt to take strict action against winter break violations

The Punjab School Education Department has instructed private schools to not hold winter camps during the 20 days of winter vacation.

The Punjab Education Department has announced that winter holidays will begin on December 23 and end on January 12, 2025, with schools reopening on January 13, 2025. 

Private schools have been instructed to strictly adhere to this holiday schedule. These directives came in response to private school owners seeking permission to hold winter camps to address syllabus delays caused by unannounced holidays. 

Punjab Secretary School Education Khalid Nazeer Wattoo firmly rejected the request and warned of strict legal consequences for any school that violates the vacation policy. Highlighting the need for students to rest, Wattoo stressed that winter holidays play a vital role in ensuring mental peace. 

He suggested that pending syllabus could be addressed through extra classes once schools resume, rather than interrupting the designated holiday period. The Education Department remains resolute in its stance, aiming to ensure uniform observance of the holidays across all schools, emphasizing the importance of students’ well-being and a balanced academic environment.
