UAE giving visa-on-arrival to Indian travelers

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, has said that the days of unskilled Pakistani workers finding jobs in the UAE are coming to an end, as the country shifts towards a demand for high-end skilled professionals.

In an interview, Tirmizi highlighted sectors such as accounting, IT, banking, AI, healthcare, and aviation, which have high potential for skilled workers from Pakistan. He pointed out that while many Pakistanis have traditionally worked in low-wage, unskilled jobs, there is now an opportunity to shift towards high-paying skilled positions, with salaries starting at Dh20000. He noted that this shift would significantly improve the earning potential for Pakistanis, compared to the previous Dh1,000 or more received by unskilled workers.

Tirmizi also discussed the growing partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, emphasizing that it now extends beyond simply sending workers abroad. The collaboration focuses on creating investment opportunities and job creation in Pakistan for long-term benefits.

A key focus of Tirmizi’s efforts is skills development, especially in high-demand sectors. He mentioned the increasing need for professionals like physiotherapists, nurses, and pilots, not only in the UAE but globally. He also revealed plans to establish pilot training schools in Pakistan to offer affordable training for future aviators.

Regarding remittances, Pakistan has seen a 53% increase in the last six months, reaching $4.5 billion. Tirmizi expressed confidence that the total could surpass $9 billion by the end of the fiscal year and acknowledged the contribution of Pakistani workers, including blue-collar laborers, to this achievement.

Looking ahead, Tirmizi stressed the importance of promoting tourism and higher education to strengthen Pakistan’s position in the global economy.
