In the name of so-called honour, a man killed his wife and daughter in Thatha Gehra village of Hafizabad district in Punjab.
The attack resulted in the immediate death of the woman, while her daughter succumbed to injuries after being taken to the hospital. The victims have been identified as Saima, aged 35, and her 20-year-old daughter, Asma Rani. According to initial reports, the accused attacked both women over personal suspicions, claiming it was a matter of honour.
Local police reached the scene shortly after the incident and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination. Law enforcement officials have launched raids in various areas to arrest the suspect, who fled after committing the crime.
Police officials say the motive appears to be linked to a domestic dispute, and further investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances. The incident has sparked outrage in the local community, with residents calling for swift justice and stricter laws to prevent such killings.
Human rights activists have also condemned the act, terming it a brutal example of violence against women. They have urged the authorities to take serious steps to put an end to honour-based violence, which continues to claim lives across the country.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation. Meanwhile, the police have vowed not to rest until the accused is brought to justice.
