Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched a Cadet Pilot Program endeavoring to recruit 24 new pilots to reinforce its operational capacity and deal with an ongoing shortage of cockpit crew.
Under this program, candidates will be hired on a two-year contractual basis. Applicants must hold a valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and have completed at least 200 flying hours. Along with this, successful candidates will be required to submit a financial bond of $15,000 as a commitment to follow airline rules and procedures. The initiative is part of PIA’s broader efforts to revive its international flight operations, especially to destinations in Europe and the UK. The airline is currently working to restore routes to Manchester, London, and Paris using its Boeing 777 fleet.
In addition to the cadet program, PIA is also hiring 20 experienced commercial pilots to meet immediate operational needs. The airline has urged interested candidates to send their applications to the HR department within 15 days of the official announcement. This recruitment follows a previous hiring call for First Officer positions, which received applications from nearly 300 candidates — reflecting the strong local interest in aviation careers.
The cadet pilot program is expected to play a key role in the airline’s long-term plans for growth and improved service quality as international operations resume. Meanwhile, other major airlines like Emirates have also opened global recruitment drives for cabin crew as they expand international services.
