The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony announced on Monday that more than 114500 applications have been submitted under the Government Hajj Scheme 2026, leaving only about 3500 seats vacant.
He urged intending pilgrims to submit their forms at the nearest nominated branches without delay, stressing that demand is high and applications are being processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Officials noted that the record number of applications shows the strong desire of citizens to perform Hajj through the government scheme next year.
This year, the government is offering two packages. The long stay package ranges from 38 to 42 days, while the short stay covers 20 to 25 days. The cost falls between Rs1.15 million and Rs1.25 million, with an initial installment of Rs500000 to Rs550000 required at the time of submission. The remaining amount must be paid by November 1. The ministry clarified that overseas Pakistanis holding valid Pakistani passports are also eligible to apply. Under the current policy, 70 percent of the total quota is reserved for the government scheme, while 30 percent has been allocated to private tour operators.
Pakistan’s overall Hajj quota for 2026 is 179210 pilgrims, which includes 119210 under the government scheme and 60000 through private operators. The division of seats is still subject to final approval from Saudi authorities. Officials emphasized that the government is working to ensure smooth arrangements for all selected pilgrims. They also assured transparency in the process and urged citizens not to delay in submitting their applications.
